What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy is by definition "the treatment of disease, injury or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery."

To our Medici Physical Therapy team it is the path to helping our patients reach their maximum functional ability and achieve pain relief.

Your Medici Physical Therapy team utilizes these proven treatments following the guidelines of evidence-based practices:

Therapeutic Exercises: strength, aerobic & endurance conditioning, body mechanics training, flexibility, and range of motion.

Neuro Re-Education:  activities focusing on improving movement, balance, coordination and  proprioception (perception of the position and movement of the body).

Manual Therapy:  Hands-on techniques such as massage, myofascial release, joint movement and passive range of motion focusing on skeletal muscle and joints to address muscle pain, trigger points, joint dysfunction, ligament and tendon pain.

Dry Needling:  The use of thin monofilaments (acupuncture needles) to treat trigger points to improve muscle function and decrease pain.  Dry needling is a minimally discomforting treatment that provides relief to many patients that receive the procedure.
